Junior AI Solutions Intern Engineer
Hybrid / London · Paid Internship · 8 Weeks · Summer 2026
About Magnus Consulting
Magnus Consulting is an AI-embedded B2B growth consultancy. We help ambitious businesses and PE-backed portfolios align marketing and sales on where to play and how to win, then embed the strategy, behaviours and systems for teams to execute. Fast.
We're a certified B Corp and listed in the FT's top UK management consultancies for the past two years. Our work is hands-on, commercially grounded, and built around real client outcomes.
The opportunity
This is an 8-week paid internship for strong early-career developers who want to build real AI tools, not sandbox projects or slide decks. From day one, you will be contributing to live work: proof-of-concepts for client pitches, deployment pipelines that take code from a laptop into production, and AI tools that go in front of real enterprise businesses.
You will work directly with our Head of AI Strategy and Lead AI Engineer, embedded in a small, expert team where your output is visible, valued, and used. We are looking to bring 3 to 4 interns in this summer, and the strongest performers will be considered for longer-term roles.
What you'll work on
Work will be split across three areas, reflecting where the team needs the most support:
Proof-of-concepts and client builds
- Build rapid prototypes using LLMs and modern development frameworks for client pitches and live AI sprints
- Turn a brief into something tangible - a working tool a client can see, test, and respond to
- Contribute to AI-powered commercial tools that go into production, not just presentations
Deployment and infrastructure
- Support the setup of deployment pipelines that take code from development into cloud infrastructure (AWS and similar)
- Help ensure builds are accessible internally for review and externally for clients, not just running on a local machine
- Work with Git, GitHub, and modern CI/CD practices to contribute to shared codebases
Long-term product work
- Contribute to longer-term AI product development, including internal Magnus tools and platform builds
- Assist with testing, QA, and documentation to support reliable, maintainable solutions
- Help evaluate new tools and frameworks as the AI landscape develops
Technical stack
You will gain hands-on exposure to a modern AI and engineering stack:
- Languages and frameworks: Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Python
- Tooling: GitHub, VS Code, Postman, Claude Code
- AI platforms: OpenAI, Claude, Gemini and similar APIs
- Deployment: AWS, Vercel and similar cloud platforms
- Collaboration: Microsoft Teams, project management tools
Familiarity with LangChain, vector databases, or RAG frameworks is a bonus, not a requirement.
What we're looking for
Must-have
- A current student or recent graduate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Working knowledge of JavaScript or Python
- Familiarity with GitHub and version control workflows
- Understanding of how APIs work and how modern web applications are put together
- London-based or able to commute to our London office for the duration of the programme
- Right to work in the UK or a student visa valid until 31 August 2026
What sets strong applicants apart
- An active GitHub profile with real builds you can point to
- Genuine curiosity about applied AI - you are experimenting and have opinions
- Some exposure to cloud deployment, even at a basic level
- An interest in how businesses grow - this sits at the intersection of AI and commercial strategy, which is unusual in the field
- Any experience in a consulting, commercial, or client-facing context
Why Magnus
- You will build things that go live. Real client work, real commercial stakes, real feedback loops.
- You will work at the intersection of applied AI and enterprise go-to-market. This combination is rare in the market and commercially valuable on your CV.
- You will work alongside our Head of AI Strategy and Lead AI Engineer, who are at the forefront of building AI systems. The learning curve is steep and deliberate.
- Magnus has been recognised by the Financial Times as one of the UK's top management consultancies for 2025 and 2026.
- The programme is designed with conversion in mind. Internships that go well have the potential to turn into roles.
Practical details
- Duration: 8 weeks, 6 July - 28 August 2026
- Location: Based in our London Bridge/Shoreditch office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Remote working otherwise.
- Salary: £500 per week
- Cohort: 3-4 interns, managed as a group reporting into the AI engineering lead
- Applications close: 10 June 2026
